Sports Shear New South Wales (NSW) is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organisation committed to showcasing and supporting the incredible talent within the Australian shearing and wool handling industry. Each year, we coordinate and support 24 professionally run competitions across regional and rural New South Wales — from small country shows to major championship events.

What sets Sports Shear NSW apart is our focus on technique, quality, consistency, and animal welfare — not just speed. Unlike QuickShear competitions that judge solely on who finishes first, our events reward the all-round professional: someone who can shear fast, clean, and respectfully. It’s a true test of craftsmanship, and a genuine reflection of the skills used in the sheds every day.

NSW is home to some of the finest shearers in the country, with a strong line of both emerging talent and seasoned champions. Our competitions not only honour the hard work of today’s elite but also provide a platform for the next generation of shearers to rise through the ranks.
